Beneath the Puff of Sky

A small angler, towering clouds, and a lake full of reflected light give Beneath the Puff of Sky its quietly extravagant sense of possibility.

Bill and Linda Tiepelman ·

A young angler beside a small boat beneath towering clouds, with trees and golden light reflected in the lake.

Waiting beneath a generous sky

The figure stands beside a boat near the left bank, while the fishing rod points into a sky that seems much too grand for an ordinary afternoon. Trees frame both sides, and the bright opening between the clouds draws the eye above the water.

Follow the reflection downward: the small figure becomes an inverted silhouette, while the clouds gather into pale shapes between reeds and fallen branches. This is an imaginative artwork associated with Busch, rather than a record of an identified person's fishing trip. Its archive caption tells a fictional fishing story; that story is separate from the factual location context here.

The place behind the image

Busch offers fishing alongside wildlife habitat. MDC's Busch area guide provides the location context; check the official visitor information for current access and conditions.

A square print keeps the towering clouds and the foreground reflection together. Give the pale cloud edges room against a darker frame or wall. Explore prints and available merchandise for Beneath the Puff of Sky.
