Painted Klondike Autumn
Painterly foliage, pale shoreline, and deep blue reflections give Painted Klondike Autumn a richly textured view of the park’s lake.

Autumn with a painter’s touch
The small tree at the left is the welcoming committee. Its warm leaves rise from rough, pale ground, then give way to water, a low island-like point, and the far bank. The scene has a clear photographic structure, while its tactile, brushlike surfaces encourage a slower inspection.
Notice how the water simplifies the complicated shoreline. Above it, branches overlap and grasses tangle; below it, those details soften into stretches of reflected color. Wispy clouds carry your eye across the top of the picture, while the foreground tree brings it back down. The artistic finish is part of this work’s identity, not a literal promise of how every surface looks on a visit.
The place behind the image
The park occupies a former silica sand quarry. See the county’s park information for background, and the current visitor page when planning an outing.
Picture it on your wall
A landscape format preserves the foreground tree and the open water together. Allow room around the print so the fine textures have space to be appreciated up close. Explore prints and available merchandise for Painted Klondike Autumn.
