The Green Water Keeps Autumn
Bill Tiepelman ·

A different kind of fall color
Autumn usually asks us to look up. The Green Water Keeps Autumn asks us to look down first. A narrow band of vivid green water threads through the image, framed by fallen wood, grasses, and trees gathering color along both banks. The green is so insistent that the oranges and golds overhead seem to answer it rather than command the scene.
Following the bend
We return to Busch Memorial Conservation Area for the variety of views it offers, and this one holds attention through contrast. Branches bend toward the water. A log and leaf litter make the foreground tangible, while the wooded channel draws the eye farther in. Blue sky and broken white cloud open a little space above the dense banks. The result feels both enclosed and breathable.
A place with many faces
The Missouri Department of Conservation describes Busch as a public landscape of lakes, woods, wildlife habitat, and trails. That breadth matters here: an intimate wetland edge can feel every bit as characteristic of the area as a broad lake view. The bright surface should be read as part of this artwork's observed appearance, not as a claim about water conditions across the conservation area.
Bring the color home
The finished image holds its smallest textures as carefully as its boldest colors. For a room that could use a lively piece of Missouri autumn, see the matching artwork and print options in our shop. The full scene is also preserved in the Unfocussed archive.
Take this view home
The duckweed green and autumn canopy make this a vivid piece for a wall or a small gift. The same finished artwork is available through the verified shop listing as a framed print, acrylic print, greeting card, or jigsaw puzzle.

Let the intense green and gold hold the room in a framed print; Keep its detail bright on an acrylic print; Share that improbable color as a greeting card; or linger over it piece by piece with a jigsaw puzzle.
