The Lake After the Rain
Bill Tiepelman ·

The sky starts to open
The Lake After the Rain is built around a change that seems to happen slowly. Blue-gray cloud still covers much of the sky, but a warm break along the horizon reaches the lake. The reflection does not make one perfect stripe. Small waves scatter it into dozens of bright fragments, so the water becomes an active part of the weather story.
Where the eye settles
Bare trees and reeds keep the far shore low and spare. Darker growth at the near edge gives the scene a frame without competing with the open water. We like the way the image lets the sky feel enormous while still leaving a place to stand. Cool cloud shadows and orange light share the same surface; neither has quite won.
Busch beyond one view
Busch Memorial Conservation Area is managed by the Missouri Department of Conservation for both public recreation and healthy fish and wildlife habitat. Its many lakes offer changing views, but this artwork makes no claim about the exact weather or capture time beyond what the finished image shows. For maps and current visiting information, use the department's official area page.
A little room for weather
A print of this scene would bring the drama of a clearing sky into a room without losing the quiet of the water below it. Explore the matched artwork in the shop, or see its source catalog image in the archive.
Take this view home
The open sky and light on the lake carry this view across a large print and into smaller keepsakes. The same finished artwork is available through the verified shop listing as a framed print, acrylic print, greeting card, or jigsaw puzzle.

Give the changing sky some scale in a framed print; Let light play across an acrylic print; Send a little of that clearing weather in a greeting card; or settle in with the reflections as a jigsaw puzzle.
