Feeling Pink at Goose Creek Dam
Pink clouds stretch over the dam at Goose Creek Lake, balancing cool blue water, a warm shoreline and the soft movement of an evening sky.
Bill and Linda Tiepelman ·

The sky has apparently decided that subtlety can wait. In Feeling Pink at Goose Creek Dam, coral-pink clouds spread across cool blue and violet, while the lake below keeps a much quieter rhythm. A warm strip of shoreline slips in from the left, and a leafy edge on the right gives the open water a gentle frame.
Follow the long lines
This image rewards a slow look from side to side. Cloud bands, the distant tree line and the water all stretch across the composition, but none of them has quite the same texture. The clouds are soft and layered. The shoreline is firmer, with golden earth beneath green foliage. The lake is broken into small ripples that catch fragments of color.
Those ripples matter. The water does not simply duplicate the sky; it loosens it into moving strokes. Against all that horizontal space, the trees at the right edge offer a useful interruption, bringing the viewer back to the near shore.
The dam in a larger lake story
The PhotoShelter caption places this view along the dam within Goose Creek Lake in French Village, Missouri. The community's own history dates its founding to 1968 and describes the main lake's enlargement in 1985. That history adds another layer to an image whose first impression is all color: this shoreline belongs to a developed lake community with a story beyond the frame.
This photographic artwork appears in the archive as Goose Warm Dam View Pinks.jpg. Its public shop title, Feeling Pink at Goose Creek Dam, keeps the emphasis exactly where the eye goes first. No capture date or particular editing method is assumed here.
